Warriors Sound: 2016 NBA Draft

Marcus Thompson of the Bay Area News Group joins us to talk about a Bay Area tie to the early part of the draft where Cal’s Jaylen Brown was selected third.

For the second consecutive year, the Warriors selected 30th in the NBA Draft and this year 7-foot center Damian Jones out of Vanderbilt is the team’s first round selection.

Warriors general manager Bob Myers spoke on Tuesday about the end of the 2015-16 season and this evening’s draft.

With the 2016 NBA Draft taking place tonight at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, we will have updates throughout the evening from Warriors headquarters as events unfold.

The first few picks have been made at the 2016 NBA Draft with the 76ers taking Ben Simmons first and the Lakers selecting Brandon Ingram second.

As we hit the double digit plateau at the 2016 NBA Draft, it has been an intriguing evening at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

The Warriors also used the 38th overall pick – acquired from Milwaukee – to select guard Patrick McCaw out of UNLV.

In three seasons at Vanderbilt, Jones averaged over 13 points and nearly two blocks per game as a two-time First Team All-SEC standout.

7:25 p.m.

The Warriors currently hold the 30th overall pick. This is the same draft spot the team had last year when Kevon Looney was selected out of UCLA.
